The Story Continues: Dear Grampaw
In my second collection, I continue to delve into the theme of memory and history that defined my initial series, "Dear Grampaw." While the scale is smaller and the imagery more straightforward, the essence of exploring familial connections and our ties to the past remains at the core of my work.
This collection further examines the elusive nature of memories and the fragments of history that shape our understanding of family and identity. Each collage is a piece of a larger narrative, an attempt to bridge the gap between present and past, particularly focusing on my grandfather's experiences during the Vietnam War. The war's profound impact on him and countless others is a central theme, shedding light on the untold stories and hidden scars carried by veterans and their families.
Through these works, I aim to underscore the significance of preserving memories as a means of understanding our heritage and ourselves. By presenting these stories in a new light, I invite viewers to reflect on their own connections to history and the impact it has on their lives.
